Fresh Ideas: Get in the MOOD for Valentine's Day

Just in time for Valentine’s Day. We compiled some help for you to set the stage for a special Valentine’s Day this year. Some of these might be surprising, but who doesn’t want a little more love and romance? What’s getting in the way of it for you?

  • Tip 1: Clean Your ROOM! No, really. Pick up the laundry and the kids’ toys and make your bedroom an INVITING place to be. Most women are bothered by messy, cluttered spaces and being in the bedroom should be an escape from those things, not a reminder of all you need to do. Who can relax and be passionate in a messy room?
  • Tip 2: Work out. You will end up with more energy for between the sheets and will have more confidence, too!
  • Tip 3: Give your special someone a long hug. Did you know research shows that hugging at least 30 seconds releases oxytocin, which is the hormone that makes us feel trusting of the other person. While you are at it, take a few deep breaths in your partner’s neck.
  • Tip 4: Focus on kissing and touching above the belt for 20 minutes. This will signal dopamine, which drives sexual arousal.
  • Tip 5: Share your fantasies. Enough said.
  • Tip 6: Change something up. Buy new lingerie, style your hair differently, leave your clothes on or try sex in a different part of the house than you have before. The sense of newness can be a turn on.
  • Tip 7: Get some work done. Yes, you read that right. It can be a big help when you make some progress on your to-do list, pay some bills, things that have been on your mind. Women need to feel relaxed in order to get turned on, and often we have too much on our minds to relax. Start getting some things off of your mind for Valentine’s Day so you can REALLY relax and enjoy getting in the mood.

Neutral Nails – Timeless

When in doubt, neutral always looks classy.
These colors will look great for work, school or an evening out on the town. They work well with any wardrobe colors and they make your nails look super clean and chic, too. Just like nude colored heels elongate your leg, neutral colors give your hands and fingers a lovely, lean look.
Be sure to get your nails properly prepped before using a lighter, neutral shade, however. These have a tendency to highlight flaws if your nails are damaged or dry. Use a quality base coat beforehand and take care of those cuticles, especially with our frigid MN winter taking its toll on your hands.
Take your time choosing a color because just like foundation for your face, nude polishes have many different undertones and certain choices will work better with your natural skin tones than others. In short, it’s all about complementing your skin, while providing a little colour and contrast, too.

New Year Check-In

Happy New Year!!
Starting a fresh, new year is the ideal time to hit the reset button in many areas of your life. It is the perfect time to check yourself on your priorities, your health, your relationships and more! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, too. Make a special plan for your sweetie or devise a way to finally ask that person out that you’ve been thinking about nonstop.
Starting out 2014, you may also want to consider making a promise to yourself that you will take better care of your skin. Put on that sunscreen every day – even in these cold, winter days! Powerful rays from the sun don’t stop just because it isn’t hot outside. Protect what you’ve got!
You should also make a habit of checking your skin for new or changing spots. You should get something looked at (actually make that appointment!) if it is new, different or just plain odd. Checking your skin at the start of every new season (every 3 months) is a good way to remind yourself. These days, with smart phones that have reminders you can program, there are no excuses!
Maybe this new year you want a new look.  If you are stuck in a rut, change up that hair color! Cut it shorter! Grab a friend who is on the cutting edge of current trends and beg for his/her honest assessment of your style, whether it is clothing, hair or makeup. Be energized for NEW things in the NEW year and then get the momentum going to go after what you are passionate about changing.
Have you heard it takes 21 days to form a new habit? Some say that this claim came out of thin air and has no actual facts behind it. Whether or not that is true, this is an interesting article about the topic of habit formation. Don’t be discouraged if you are setting out to make a big transformation and 21 days pass but you aren’t feeling like you’ve got it down yet. Many people have given up because they continue to fail after 21 days so they resign to the fact that they simply cannot change. Stay the course and be encouraged. Your goals are worth your hard work and effort.
