About diVa®
diVa® vaginal laser therapy is a non-surgical option for improving vaginal and sexual health. diVa® Hybrid Fractional Laser technology improves moisture, tone, resiliency, and elasticity for healthier vaginal and sexual function. In addition, diVa® is non-hormonal, making it an option for atrophy caused by breast cancer, chemotherapy, radiation, or breastfeeding. Treatments are designed and calibrated for each woman's needs and goals.
Treating vaginal pain and dryness with diVa®
Many vaginal health issues are triggered by a decrease in estrogen production. Estrogen keeps the vaginal walls elastic and lubricated, but production of this hormone can drop because of menopause, surgical menopause, hormone therapy, hormonal birth control, breastfeeding, or chemotherapy. When estrogen levels drop, vaginal tissues can become thinner, drier, less elastic, and more fragile.
diVa® treats:
Vaginal atrophy.
Symptoms include dryness, irritation, soreness and dyspareunia with urinary frequency, urgency and urge incontinence. Atrophy affects nearly half of all postmenopausal women.
Vaginal laxity
Pregnancy and vaginal delivery can lead to vaginal laxity, a loosening of the vaginal canal and vaginal opening. Vaginal laxity causes a loss of sexual arousal and satisfaction during intercourse.
diVa® can improve vaginal symptoms including:
- Vaginal dryness
- Vaginal burning
- Vaginal discharge
- Genital itching
- Frequent and urgent urination
- Burning with urination
- Recurrent urinary tract infections
- Urinary incontinence
- Painful intercourse
- Bleeding or spotting after intercourse
- Shortening and tightening of the vaginal canal
Benefits of non-surgical vaginal therapy with diVa®
Vaginal laxity is not a topic that women want to discuss, but it is a common problem for women who have been through pregnancy, vaginal childbirth, menopause or surgically induced menopause. For some women, the size and “tightness” of the vagina is a matter of genetics.
Women experiencing vaginal laxity often feel resigned to a life of discomfort and sexual dysfunction. When the only option is surgery, they would prefer to suffer in silence. But surgery is just one alternative. Women with vaginal health issues should consider the benefits of non-surgical vaginal therapy.
Vaginal Symptoms
Vaginal laxity, vaginal dryness, and painful intercourse are a few of the reasons women seek out vaginal procedures.
Vaginal laxity is primarily caused by vaginal childbirth and menopause. Childbirth can stretch tissues and the vaginal canal. The vagina may feel “loose,” which can lead to pain and sexual dysfunction.
For menopausal women, a drop in the hormone estrogen can lead to laxity, dryness and other symptoms. Estrogen is important in maintaining the structure and the lining of the vagina.
Vaginoplasty: Vaginal surgery
Vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure that tightens the vaginal canal. This vaginal laxity can occur after vaginal childbirth or is attributable to hormonal changes and aging. During vaginoplasty surgery, the surgeon removes extra mucosa skin from the back wall of the vagina. They may also restructure muscles that have become separated.
Risks of Vaginoplasty Surgery
Risks are like those of any major surgery, including scarring, infection and long recovery times. Surgically tightening the vaginal tissue cannot guarantee a heightened sexual response. Desire, arousal, and orgasm are tied to emotional factors and personal experience. It can be a big risk to take for uncertain results.

FAQ
More About diVa
Is diVa® painful?
Most women report minimal discomfort during their diVa® treatment.
Who is a candidate for diVa®?
Women who experience certain vaginal symptoms may find relief or improvements after treatment with diVa®. Women may want to consider diVa® if they are experiencing:
- Vaginal dryness
- Vaginal pain
- Painful intercourse
- Vaginal laxity
What will I experience during diVa® vaginal therapy?
diVa® uses a strengthened quartz dilator that remains stationary during the procedure. diVa® takes only three to five minutes for both lasers to treat the full length of the vaginal canal. Some women experience a feeling of pressure but generally have little to no pain or discomfort during the procedure. If you feel anxious about pain, we can apply a topical anesthetic if needed.
How long do diVa® results last?
After treatment, patients experience a period of improvement until they have reached their goal. Then the collagen and other tissue will begin to age naturally. A recent study showed 92 percent of women felt diVa® met their expectations.
diVa® laser technology
diVa's cutting-edge Hybrid Fractional Laser Technology means two lasers work together. One resurfaces the vaginal canal. The other penetrates deeper tissues to rebuild the collagen structures in the vaginal walls for better support and healthy function.
The new collagen growth offers support to the vaginal canal by thickening and “plumping” the vaginal walls. This rebuilding of tissues can also improve vaginal laxity caused by childbirth, menopause, or other health issues.
diVa® improves support to the urethra and bladder to treat minor cases of urinary stress incontinence.
What to expect during diVa® treatment
Patients may experience warmth and pressure during treatment, but the procedure generally causes only minimal discomfort. A topical anesthetic is used to ensure comfort.
diVa® typically takes only three to five minutes to treat the full length of the vagina.
diVa® recovery
After treatment, patients can return to their daily routine. Patients may experience some discharge, spotting, or discomfort during the first 48 hours after treatment. To allow the vaginal lining to rebuild, patients should avoid sexual intercourse for 24 to 48 hours post-procedure. We will discuss your aftercare with you during your consultation.
