Frequently Asked Questions

Injectables

WHAT IS BOTOX®?
A natural purified protein produced by clostridium botulinum bacterium.

IS IT DANGEROUS?
No. It is a purified form of the protein and is injected in very small amounts, so there is virtually no risk.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
It is injected into a muscle to temporarily relax the muscle to prevent movement and assist wrinkle reduction. The repeated movement of muscles causes wrinkles; so by preventing movement, it helps reduce or soften wrinkles.

IS THERE ANY PRE-TREATMENT?
Avoid taking any medications with aspirin, ibuprofen, and/or Vitamin E in them for one week prior to treatment. This will decrease the bruising at the injection site.

IS THERE ANY POST-TREATMENT?
You will need to keep your head up for four hours after treatment and not workout for 24 hours, but that is it.

DOES IT HURT?
There is very minimal discomfort – no local or topical anesthesia is necessary.

WHAT IS SUBMENTAL FULLNESS?
Submental fullness due to submental fat, sometimes referred to as "double chin," is a common yet undertreated facial aesthetic condition. It can detract from an otherwise balanced and harmonious facial appearance – leading to an older and heavier look.

Submental fullness can impact a broad range of adults and is not limited to people who are overweight. This condition can impact men or women of average weight and can be caused by aging, genetics, and weight gain. It is often resistant to diet and exercise alone.

According to a 2014 survey by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), over two thirds of consumers are bothered by submental fullness – nearly as many as those bothered by lines and wrinkles around the eye.

WHAT IS KYBELLA™ (DEOXYCHOLIC ACID) INJECTION?
KYBELLA™ (deoxycholic acid) injection, also known as ATX-101, is the first and only FDA-approved injectable drug that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness due to submental fat.

KYBELLA™ is indicated for improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe convexity or fullness associated with submental fat in adults. The safe and effective use of KYBELLA™ for the treatment of subcutaneous fat outside the submental region has not been established and is not recommended.

HOW DOES KYBELLA™ WORK?
KYBELLA™ is a non-human and non-animal formulation of deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

When injected into subcutaneous fat, KYBELLA™ causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After the aesthetic response is achieved, retreatment with KYBELLA™ is not expected. Due to its cytolytic activity, KYBELLA™ should not be injected into or in close proximity to vulnerable anatomic structures.

HOW IS KYBELLA™ ADMINISTERED?
KYBELLA™ is administered by injections into the fat under the chin. Each in-office treatment session is typically 15-20 minutes.

Treatment with KYBELLA™ is customized by the provider to the patient’s aesthetic goals for an improved chin profile.

WHAT ARE THE RESULTS OF KYBELLA™ CLINICAL TRIALS?
In the pooled, pivotal Phase III studies, 68.2 percent of patients responded to KYBELLA™ based on a composite of validated provider and patient measurements. Many patients experienced visible results in two to four treatments. KYBELLA™ treatment resulted in high patient satisfaction.

In clinical studies, 28, 43, and 55 percent of KYBELLA™-treated patients had a one-grade composite improvement after two, three, and four treatments, respectively.

Patients also reported improvement in the emotional impact of submental fat when asked how happy, bothered, self-conscious, embarrassed, old, and overweight they felt following treatment in relation to the amount of their submental fat.

IS KYBELLA™ SAFE?
KYBELLA™ has been the focus of a global clinical development program involving over 20 clinical studies with more than 2,600 patients worldwide, of which over 1,600 have been treated with KYBELLA™.

Production of KYBELLA™ is a highly controlled, quality-assured and validated, current Good Manufacturing Practices-compliant process to ensure patient safety. KYBELLA™ contains no human or animal-derived substances.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS WITH KYBELLA™?
The safety profile of KYBELLA™ is well characterized. Side effects may include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, or formation of small areas of firmness. Adverse events with KYBELLA™ infrequently resulted in discontinuation from study (1.6 percent of participants). Care must be taken when injecting KYBELLA™ to avoid the risk of marginal mandibular nerve injury and dysphagia.

WHAT IS A DERMAL FILLER?
Restylane®, Perlane®, and Juvéderm® are natural substances called hyaluronic acid that already exist in the human body and restore fullness and smoother contours to your face. These fillers are for deeper wrinkles or creases.

DOES IT CORRECT ALL OF MY WRINKLES?
You will have an 80 to 100 percent improvement in the appearance of the injected lines and wrinkles temporarily.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
It depends on the product, but approximately six to nine months. Since everyone's body metabolizes differently, it can last from six months to one year.

DOES IT GO AWAY COMPLETELY?
Yes, if you stop getting the injections, the material is degraded by the body, leaving no traces of the dermal filler in the body.

IS THERE ANY PRE-TREATMENT REQUIRED?
Avoid any products containing Aspirin, Ibuprofen, St. John's Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E for one week prior to treatment to help decrease bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

IS THERE ANY POST-TREATMENT REQUIRED?
You will need to leave the area alone for six hours after treatment and refrain from aerobic exercise for 24 hours. There might be redness, swelling, and minor bruising at the injection sites.

DOES IT HURT?
There is minimal discomfort, but a topical or local anesthetic is available if needed.

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE AQUAGOLD®?
AQUAGOLD® is proven to consistently deliver the right quantity of products just under the dermis, quickly covering a large area for pain-free, immediate results.

WHAT IS THE SIZE OF THE NEEDLES?
The microneedles are thinner than human hair at just 0.6 mm long and 0.13 mm wide.

HOW MANY MICRONEEDLES ARE THERE?
There are 20 needles that are single-use only for sterile treatment.

IS AQUAGOLD® DIFFERENT THAN OTHER MICRONEEDLING DEVICES?
AQUAGOLD® is designed to deliver treatments directly to the skin, whereas other micro-needling devices are designed to puncture the skin to stimulate collagen growth.

ARE THE NEEDLES REALLY MADE OF GOLD?
The needles are surgical stainless steel tips covered with pure gold. The stainless steel provides structure, and the gold prevents irritation and allergic reactions that occur with other metals.

WHAT ACTIVE INGREDIENTS DO YOU USE?
We customize a formula of the appropriate products such as dermal fillers, neurotoxins, retinol, and antioxidants.

WHO IS THE BEST CANDIDATE FOR PRP HAIR RESTORATION?
The best candidates are individuals that have recently noticed hair loss; it can be effective but is more challenging to wake up hair follicles that have been dormant for a long time.

IS THERE ANY PAIN ASSOCIATED WITH THE TREATMENT?
We use numbing cream, so pain is minimal.

IS THERE ANY DOWN TIME AFTER THE PRP HAIR RESTORATION TREATMENT?
No. Patients may resume normal activity directly following treatment.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY?
It depends on the individual, but typically we recommend a treatment every three to four weeks for the first four months. After this, maintenance is required every three to four months for up to two years.

IS HYDRAFACIAL™ RIGHT FOR ME?
To determine if HydraFacials are right for you, it's recommended to have a consultation with one of our licensed, experienced skin care providers.  They can help decide if HydraFacials will give you the type of skin enhancement results you want and need. If you are seeking a non-invasive treatment for fine lines, acne, uneven skin tone, clogged pores, or hyperpigmentation, you may want to consider HydraFacials. If your skin often reacts poorly to strong chemical peels and microdermabrasion treatments, or if you have naturally dry and/or sensitive skin, then HydraFacials might be right for you.

WHAT IS HYDRAFACIAL™ ?
The HydraFacial is the newest breakthrough in skin resurfacing technology. A non-invasive, non-irritating exfoliation alternative to other ablative treatments, the HydraFacial produces comparable outcomes in skin rejuvenation, anti-aging, and acne-prone/oily skin treatment. It’s the only procedure that integrates cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and hydration simultaneously.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
The HydraFacial exfoliates dead skin cells and extracts impurities with a vacuum-based skin abrasion tip while simultaneously bathing the healthy underlying skin with active serums that cleanse deeply, exfoliate thoroughly, hydrate completely, and provide residual antioxidant protection.

WHAT RESULTS CAN BE EXPECTED WITH THE HYDRAFACIAL™ ?

  • Visibly reduced fine lines and wrinkles
  • Diminished hyperpigmentation (melasma/brown spots)
  • Improved acne-prone skin; less oily
  • Refined skin tone and texture
  • Reduced under-eye puffiness
  • Hydrated skin; improved suppleness and elasticity of skin

WHAT IS THE VALUE OF HYDRAFACIAL™ ?
The ability to hydrate the skin sets the HydraFacial™ apart from all other skin resurfacing procedures. The multi-faceted spiral abrasion tip provides effortless and painless extraction of sebum, combined with serums that soften, lift, and extract impurities. The HydraFacial can custom-blend active serums for different skin conditions. Non-irritating and hydrating ingredients provide long-lasting hydration on all skin types, even the most sensitive skin.

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING/SKINPEN®?
Microneedling/SkinPen® is a non-surgical, medical grade precision tool that works by creating a series of microscopic channels into the dermis to stimulate the skin’s natural production of new collagen and elastin, which will also allow products to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, enhancing your results.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MICRONEEDLING/SKINPEN®?
Women and men of all ages and all skin-types who seek fresher, healthier-looking skin may use Microneedling/SkinPen®. It benefits those with hyperpigmentation, acne scars, or fine lines and wrinkles.

HOW LONG DOES A MICRONEEDLING/SKINPEN® PROCEDURE TAKE TO PERFORM?
Microneedling/SkinPen® is a non-surgical, in-office procedure that is performed in about 60 minutes.

ON WHAT AREAS OF THE BODY CAN MICRONEEDLING/SKINPEN® BE USED?
Microneedling/SkinPen® can treat the face, neck, back, arms, legs, décolletage, and abdomen.

HOW MANY MICRONEEDLING/SKINPEN® TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY TO SEE RESULTS?
Microneedling/SkinPen® results vary between individuals and the type of skin care concerns being addressed. A series of three to six treatments spaced about four to six weeks apart may be recommended to achieve maximum results.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME WITH MICRONEEDLING/SKINPEN®?
The downtime with Microneedling/SkinPen® depends on the depth of the repair process required. It is typical for patients to have some slight redness, much like a mild sunburn, for two to four days following the procedure. Many patients heal completely in about 24 hours.

HOW DO THEY WORK?
Salicylic acid and/or glycolic acids are used to remove the dead skin cells, and improve skin texture, fine lines, and overall appearance of the skin.

ARE THEY PAINFUL?
There may be mild discomfort with some of the stronger peels. Most guests say there is a stinging or itching sensation depending on the type of peel you are having.

IS THERE ANY PRE-TREATMENT NECESSARY?
Do not use any products containing acids for three days prior to a peel.

IS THERE ANY POST-TREATMENT NECESSARY?
Use of sun block is recommended. There will be some mild peeling or redness after the treatment. A home care regimen for you to follow will be explained to you to maintain the benefits of the treatments.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
The number of treatments needed will vary from patient to patient, and your clinician will personalize a treatment plan based on your needs and designed outcome.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING THE PROCEDURE?
The procedure is typically gentle and safe. Generally, there is no need for a topical anethetic; however, your clinician may choose to use it. Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. You may briefly feel a warm or rubber band snap sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Your procedure may take as little as a few minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type of procedure performed. Your clinician will discuss all of your options with you, including the benefits, risks, and what to expect.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT?
You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. Consult your clinician if it does not. For some spots, you will see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage. Results depend on your skin type, the number of treatments, and the area treated.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECOVER AND WHAT AFTERCARE PROCEDURE SHOULD I FOLLOW?
This is a non-invasive and typically gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you are able to return to work and resume most of your activities immediately. Your clinician will provide you with more information on what to expect as well as give you an aftercare plan to follow that will involve avoiding direct sun exposure and using sunscreen.

WHAT IS A HYBRID FRACTIONAL LASER (HFL)?
A hybrid fractional laser delivers both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to the same or different microscopic treatment zone:

  • 1470 nm wavelength for coagulation. Tunable between 100 and 700 microns to optimally target epidermal and dermal pigmented lesions.
  • 2940 nm wavelength for ablation. Tunable between 0 and 100 microns to remove stratum corneum or epidermis. Speeds up healing and improves results.

WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
Halo™ is a complete skin rejuvenation treatment. You will see improvements in overall tone and texture in addition to significant removal of discoloration, reduction in fine lines*, reduced pore size, skin reflectivity, and glow.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO YOU NEED?
What is great about Halo™ is that you can choose how many treatments you want! Discuss with your clinician your needs, and you can choose to have one or two more aggressive treatments or have multiple treatments that are less aggressive and achieve a similar goal over a longer period of time.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE TREATMENT?
Thirty minutes to an hour before the treatment, your physician may place a topical ointment on your skin to reduce the sensation during the treatment. Your clinician will then measure your face with motion tracking technology to ensure your face is treated evenly. The clinician will treat a section of your face at a time by rolling the Halo™ handpiece in a crisscross pattern until the system recognizes the treatment is complete.

WHAT DOES HALO™ FEEL LIKE?
With a topical anesthetic and integrated cooling technology, most patients experience very little discomfort. Most patients describe the treatment as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations but are generally comfortable. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 15 to 30 minutes.

CAN I RETURN TO NORMAL ACTIVITIES AFTER MY TREATMENT?
Absolutely. For the first 24 hours, you should keep your skin protected according to your clinician’s instructions, but after that, you should be able to go about your normal activities. After the first 24 hours, your skin will begin to peel, but you will be able to put on makeup. For a facial treatment, you will see very little change on the first day. After two to three days you will develop a light bronzing appearance. By day three or four, your skin will peel, revealing your new skin beneath.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
You will see initial results between two and five days after your Halo™ treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the greatest pigmentary improvement in the first two to three weeks. This is followed by a dermal regeneration phase that continues to improve for months.

HOW LONG WILL MY RESULTS LAST?
Your Halo™ results will last for years to come, but you should continue to keep your skin protected at all times using UVA/UVB sunscreen to protect your new, healthy skin. Each additional Halo treatment you get will only improve the results, giving you even better looking skin.

WHAT IS OMNILUXTM LIGHT THERAPY?
Omnilux™ light therapy works with the body's own natural processes to counteract the effects of aging and/or acne. The different lights target specific cells, which are responsible for the synthesis and repair of the skins supportive structure.

HOW SAFE IS THE TREATMENT?
Omnilux blue™, Omnilux revive™ and  Omnilux infrared™  are safe and harmless to your skin and generate no heat. The light works naturally with your body to promote the healing response. The only safety measure is to wear goggles to protect your eyes from the light.

WHAT RESULTS CAN BE EXPECTED FROM A SERIES OF TREATMENTS?
Optimum results will be seen between 4-8 weeks after treatment. The light stimulates natural processes that continue after the treatment has stopped.

HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM REGULAR MICRONEEDLING?
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that’s primarily used to minimize the signs of aging. During a standard session, our aestheticians use a device to prick the skin with needles and stimulate new collagen production. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) can be added to the session for an additional cost. Microneedling with PRP is said to create more tightness in the skin and speed the healing process along.

WHAT IS THIS PROCEDURE USED FOR?
Traditional microneedling is used to treat everything from age spots and wrinkles to scarring and other forms of hyperpigmentation. PRP injections may boost these effects and help you achieve your desired results faster.
Although microneedling can be used to treat scars and stretch marks on other areas of the body, PRP is designed for the face only.

You may have seen online photos of a celebrity or influencer’s face covered with blood after this procedure. This is where the nickname “vampire facial” comes from. However, these pictures show an older method of applying whole blood to the skin while micro-needling. With recent advances in treatment, only the PRP from the blood is applied to the face (a gold colored plasma). The result is a milder pinkness or redness on the face. You may be considered a good candidate for this procedure if you’re in sound health and looking to treat minor signs of aging.

It may not be the best option if any of the following apply to you:

  • You are pregnant
  • You use Accutane for acne (off for a year)
  • You have certain skin conditions, such as facial eczema or rosacea
  • You scar easily
  • You have a history of poor wound healing
  • You have undergone skin radiation in the last 12 months
  • Your skin has broken capillaries (telangiectasia)
  • You experience active acne flare up (inflamed and cystic)

Our aestheticians will evaluate your medical history to determine if you’re a good candidate for microneedling with PRP.

HOW MUCH IS COOLSCULPTING ELITE?
The retail cost of CoolSculpting® Elite varies based on your individual goals and other determining factors such as the number of applications received. The cost to treat multiple body areas averages $2,700, while treating single areas (like the chin) can cost under $1,400. This is without any special promotions, so the cost can often be substantially less. However, the best way to determine the exact price is to come in for a free consultation, so our certified experts can design a treatment plan that meets your personal goals.

HOW DOES COOLSCULPTING ELITE ELIMINATE FAT CELLS?
Cold is the only known way to effectively kill fat cells. The CoolSculpting applicator will chill stubborn fat cells to a certain temperature (around -11°C) for a specific amount of time (35 to 75 minutes) and your body will tell those fat cells to die. Fortunately, a fat cell is much less tolerant of the cold than other cells in your body. No other cells, such as nerve, skin, or muscle cells, are damaged during the procedure. After the treatment ends, a two-minute frozen fat massage will damage those crystallized fat cells so the body can’t repair them. These damaged fat cells will die over a two-to-three-day period and then the dead fat cells will take two to four months to flush out of your body (about a French fry worth of fat a day), leaving a more sculpted you! The skin is not negatively compromised (no loose skin) and the results are beautiful and lasting.

HOW LONG DOES EACH TREATMENT TAKE?
Treatment time is roughly 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the area.

HOW MANY AREAS CAN YOU TREAT AT THE SAME TIME?
We can treat up to four areas at the same time, something few other providers can do. Coolsculpting Elite treats two areas at once compared to the old technology, which wasn’t as efficient.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
The number of treatments is based on the patient’s individual goals. Most patients require two to three treatments in a single treatment area.

ARE THE RESULTS PERMANENT?
Yes. Once fat cells are destroyed and removed from the body, they cannot be regenerated. Each time you treat an area with CoolSculpting Elite, you can expect an average of 20 – 25 percent reduction. The procedure is safe to do multiple times in one area should you want even more reduction.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME AFTER TREATMENT?
No. There is no required downtime after the procedure. However, some patients may experience discomfort in the treatment area like cramping, tingling, numbness, and slight swelling. Since there is no downtime or recovery period, many patients have the procedure done during their lunch break.

WHAT DOES THE PROCEDURE FEEL LIKE?
The CoolSculpting Elite procedure is akin to placing an ice pack on your bare skin. Some experience a slight burning or tingling sensation for a few minutes, like when you put your cold hands into warm water, but that subsides quickly. After each application, your technician will perform a two-minute manual massage to help break down the crystallized fat cells and bring the temperature back to normal. This may feel slightly uncomfortable, but any discomfort does not last long. Within minutes, your body will not show any visible signs of the treatment.

CAN I GET COOLSCULPTING AND OTHER TREATMENTS AT ONE VISIT?
Yes. We routinely offer combination treatments for the best results and efficient use of your time. We have four treatment rooms to ensure clients can be seen during their busy schedules.

HOW LONG IS THE INITIAL CONSULTATION?
Your free CoolSculpting Elite consultation will take about 45 minutes and we will give you a specific treatment plan and price estimate at that time. Once we determine if you’re a good candidate, we can likely treat you the same day.

HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE RESULTS?
Results can be seen in as little as four weeks, but the best results are seen in two to three months. Some results can take up to six months to fully develop.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Generally, there are no side effects from CoolSculpting; however, some people may feel temporary tingling, numbness, tenderness, bruising or swelling in the treated area. Treated areas may become slightly flushed post-treatment for a period of up to one hour. Side effects are temporary and will subside in time.

HOW EFFECTIVE IS COOLSCULPTING VERSUS DIET AND EXERCISE?
Chances are, you have some “problem areas” – areas that likely contain more fat cells than the adjacent parts of the body. You may NOT need to lose any weight. That’s why CoolSculpting Elite is the perfect solution. Now you can target those areas without having to undergo surgery or other invasive procedures. When adults gain weight (excluding obesity), the fat cells are simply getting larger, like balloons. When you lose weight, these fat cells just get smaller. With the CoolSculpting procedure, the number of fat cells is permanently reduced. Unsightly fat bulges can be significantly minimized or nearly eliminated. Once destroyed, the body's natural processes remove the dead fat cells from those targeted treatment areas.

WHO IS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE?
Generally, healthy individuals who are within 20 – 30 pounds of their goal weight and want to treat areas of stubborn fat. Those above 30 pounds may still receive CoolSculpting; however, more treatments may be needed to achieve a peak result. Those who are closer to 50 pounds overweight would be advised to try diet and exercise first and return to the clinic at a future date for treatment of the more stubborn fat.

HOW DO YOU ENSURE PATIENT SAFETY?
Patient safety has and will always be our number one priority. If you would like, you can wait in your car until your appointment time. Call us when you arrive and let us know you’re waiting. We ask that you do not bring anyone else to your appointment, including children. Our staff wears PPE. We ask that you wear a mask and practice social distancing.

IS IT PERMANENT?
It is laser hair removal; every person is different. We can’t promise complete hair removal, but most experience 50 to 90 percent hair reduction. Maintenance sessions may be necessary in some cases, and at Belladerm, we stand behind our work. We offer a 50 percent discount on up to two maintenance treatments per area, per year.

DOES IT WORK FOR ALL HAIR AND SKIN TYPES?
Laser hair removal works better for darker hair types. The LightSheer™ laser, which is considered the gold standard in laser hair removal, does work for light, gray, and red hair, but it may take more sessions to get the best results. For darker skin types, test areas need to be done to see the reaction of the skin to the laser. Since the laser is attracted to the melanin, which is higher in darker skinned people, it is more difficult to target the melanin in the hair shaft. Therefore, some pre-treatment might be necessary with a skin lightener for darker skin.

IS THERE ANY PRE-TREATMENT?
You cannot pluck, wax, use a depilatory, or have electrolysis in the areas you want to treat for six weeks prior to laser hair removal. Do not tan the areas for four weeks prior to treatment. Avoid using self-tanning products for two weeks prior to treatment. The area to be treated should be shaved before treatment.

WHAT POST-TREATMENT IS NECESSARY?
You will need to wear sunscreen regularly during your laser treatment package and for six weeks after completing your packages. Avoid irritants for seven days after treatment.

DOES IT HURT?
The level of discomfort depends on the density of hair. For most people, it feels like a rubber band snap. Topical anesthesia can be used for areas that are more sensitive.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER BEING TREATED WITH ASCLERA®?

  • Maintain graduated compression seven days after treatment. Post-treatment compression is necessary to reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis. For extensive varicosities, longer compression treatment is recommended.
  • Patients are usually encouraged to get up and walk 15-20 minutes immediately after treatment and daily for one week to prevent blood clots from forming around the treatment site. Compression stockings may be recommended to promote healthy blood flow and faster healing of the injection sites. The time frame for wearing compression stockings may vary depending on the patient but is usually one week.
  • Some patients experience mild bruising, swelling, or skin discoloration at the injection sites. Skin discoloration may take a number of months to resolve, but usually resolves without medical intervention.

WHAT SHOULD I AVOID AFTER RECEIVING AN ASCLERA® INJECTION?
For 1 week following the treatment, avoid:

  • Heavy exercise
  • Sunbathing
  • Long plane flights
  • Hot bath or sauna

Vaginal dysfunction is more than just physical pain or irritation; it disrupts your daily life and causes stress in your relationships. Poor vaginal health, dryness and laxity can all lead to painful or unsatisfying intercourse. Poor vaginal health can also be a contributing factor to urinary incontinence.

diVa® vaginal laser therapy gives women a painless, non-surgical option for improving their vaginal and sexual health so they can feel confident and in control. diVa® uses Sciton's Hybrid laser to tone and tighten the vaginal canal for healthier vaginal function. This fast, effective treatment improves moisture, tone and elasticity.

How can diVa® effectively treat so many conditions? Here are some of our diVa® FAQs to help you learn more about diVa® laser vaginal therapy.

HOW DOES diVa® WORK?
diVa's cutting-edge Hybrid Fractional Laser Technology means two lasers work together to resurface the vaginal canal, increasing the thickness of the vaginal lining and rebuilding the collagen structures deep in the vaginal walls for better support and healthy function.

This rebuilding of tissues can also improve vaginal laxity caused by childbirth, menopause or other health issues. Because it improves support to the vagina, urethra and bladder, diVa® is also a proven treatment for minor cases of urinary stress incontinence.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING diVa® TREATMENT?
diVa® vaginal laser therapy is customized for your needs and takes just a few minutes to treat the entire vaginal canal. And it can all be done in the familiar comfort of our office.

During diVa® treatment, some women report feeling pressure on the vaginal walls or warmth in the vagina, but usually, have very little sensitivity or pain. In some cases, there is increased sensitivity at the vaginal opening. We can offer a topical anesthetic during the procedure if you have concerns.

HOW LONG DO diVa® TREATMENTS LAST?
diVa® stimulates the regrowth of your own, new tissue and you will see improvements continue for several months before reaching the full effect. As time passes, those new tissues will eventually age. However, because diVa® is non-surgical and non-ablative, you can maintain your results with repeated treatments as needed.

WHO SHOULD CONSIDER diVa® AS A TREATMENT OPTION?
diVa® can help women of any age who want to improve their vaginal function after childbirth, during and after menopause or after chemotherapy.

Because diVa® is non-hormonal and non-surgical, it is ideal for women who are sensitive to hormone therapy or who have vaginal health issues caused by breast cancer, hysterectomy, childbirth and menopause.

This treatment can be a good option for women affected by sexual symptoms including struggling to reach orgasm or difficulty with arousal.

diVa® laser vaginal therapy can improve vaginal health by helping to:

  • Regain elasticity and vitality in vaginal tissues
  • Alleviate vaginal dryness
  • Decrease painful intercourse
  • Improve bladder control
  • Strengthen the pelvic floor

DOES A diVa® PROCEDURE TAKE LONG?
Each diVa® treatment can be done in the comfort of our offices and takes only three to five minutes. That is enough time for diVa's dual-laser technology to treat the surface layers and structural tissues along the full length of the vaginal canal.

HOW MANY diVa® TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY TO BE FULLY EFFECTIVE?
For optimal new tissue growth and vaginal health improvement, most women report the best results after three treatments taking place over several months.

After that, one treatment per year will help maintain your results. However, every woman's body, medical history and goals are different. We'll go over your plan during your consultation. Because it is non-surgical, diVa® can be repeated as many times as necessary to achieve the results you want.

IS diVa® TREATMENT PAINFUL?
diVa® treatment is non-surgical, offering effective results with little or no pain.

WILL I HAVE TO BE ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR diVa® LASER THERAPY?
No, diVa® vaginal laser rejuvenation can be done quickly and comfortably in our office.

SHOULD I EXPECT ANY DOWNTIME POST-TREATMENT?
With zero recovery time after treatment, most women return to their daily routines with minimal discomfort and little, if any, discharge.

Generally, you should avoid sexual intercourse for up to 48 hours after treatment. We'll discuss your personalized post-treatment care.

WHAT TYPES OF CONDITIONS DOES diVa® TREAT?
Causes of vaginal pain include a lack of natural moisture, thinning vaginal walls, a vaginal structure without support and other factors.

This pain and discomfort can also lead to sexual health and relationship issues, such as decreased libido and lack of sexual arousal and satisfaction.

diVa® laser therapy is proven effective in treating:

  • Vaginal atrophy
  • Vaginal laxity
  • Lack of vaginal lubrication
  • Dyspareunia (painful intercourse)
  •  Stress urinary incontinence

IS ANESTHESIA NECESSARY FOR diVa®?
If you have concerns, we can apply a topical anesthetic for your comfort. Because diVa® is so precise and takes so little time, most women report a comfortable experience.

WHAT TECHNOLOGY DOES THE diVa® LASER USE?
diVa® uses Sciton's customizable Hybrid laser to resurface the vaginal lining and trigger the growth of collagen in the vaginal walls. By using ablative/ non-ablative lasers, diVa® can improve many issues with one type of treatment and target specific areas for optimized results.

Don't live with vaginal pain, sexual distress and compromised intimacy. Call us today to schedule your consultation and find out if diVa® is the right treatment for you.
